COMMAND FLIGHT TRAINING
SACE STUDENT TRAINING
Command Flight Training has partnered with the Australian Science & Mathematics School to deliver selected grade 11-12 students the opportunity to study the Recreational Pilot's Licence (RPL) as a SACE Stage 2 subject. This course incorporates the CASA RPL syllabus and aspects of the Private Pilot License syllabus into Stage 2 Scientific Studies and is concerned principally with Flight Operations.
This is a one year theory course with topics focused around fixed-wing, single and twin-engine aircraft, and include aviation units and charts, aerodynamics, flight operation and performance, flight planning, meteorology, and navigation.
Students will use the Australian Science and Mathematics School's Full Synthetic Cockpit Simulator. This simulates Cessna 172SP & RG models, Piper Seneca 3 and Beechcraft King Air full glass cockpit and steam gauges. View the ASMS facilities here: ASMS Virtual Tour
All students are given the option of attaining the RPL Licence by undergoing practical training with Command Flight Training. Training is available by appointment on weekends and school holidays. More information on the RPL is available here.
